“My artwork is a conversation between my canvas and myself. My art communicates my love of color and pattern. Painting interiors and still life are subjects that I have enjoyed, but my work is evolving into abstraction. I have worked in many mediums such as oil and acrylic. Lately my concentration has focused on collage and acrylic paint. I consider a painting successful when I have manipulated elements of shape, color, and texture into a personal balance.”

Octavia was born in Weiden, Germany, into an American military family. Her family traveled and lived in many parts of the world.

It was the years in Paris, France that changed her life. There she learned to love and appreciate art, winning her first competition at age 12. Since then, she has created vivid and colorful still lifes, interiors, and collages.

She has exhibited her work and won awards throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for nearly four decades. Her art is easily recognizable, featuring a combination of bright hues and vibrant interiors and collages.

Octavia studied art in Paris, France as well as in the United States. Locally, she has studied at The Corcoran and keeps current by taking classes at Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia. Octavia just recently retired after twenty years as an interior designer with Ethan Allen.
